Edwin Morgan was a renowned translator of poetry from many languages—Russian, Hungarian, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Old English and more. He also travelled widely to give readings in Europe and North America.
The Trust would like to continue this aspect of the poet’s work by creating a small travel fund for young poets who have been invited to participate in poetry festivals or translation workshops outwith the UK.
Travel grants will be limited in size (up to a maximum of £300) and in scope. Broadly, the criteria for eligibility follow those of the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award, aiming to support young Scottish poets at an early stage of their professional development, as defined in the application process below. Older poets are also elegible to apply.
Applications must normally be made between 1 March and 15 April in the relevant year.
