Elkhart is home to more than 400 recreational vehicle-related companies, which account for one-quarter of employment in the city.

Elkhart is also home to several manufacturing companies that are not involved with RVs. Elkhart has 2,000 manufacturers in total, which provide many jobs to the residents of the city.
