Elkhart is a city in Indiana with many fun and exciting attractions that draw thousands of visitors. Elkhart has been referred to as the “RV Capital of The World” and contains dozens of interesting sites showcasing its connection to recreational vehicles. The first thing visitors notice about Elkhart is its large population of RV manufacturers and recreational vehicle suppliers. The city has more than twenty major businesses that produce RVs, and another forty or so supply parts and materials to those manufacturers. In addition, there are many other businesses in the city related to the construction of trailers, motor homes, vacation vehicles, and their components. Elkhart is home to more than 400 recreational vehicle-related companies, which account for one-quarter of employment in the city.
Elkhart is also home to several manufacturing companies that are not involved with RVs. Elkhart has 2,000 manufacturers in total, which provide many jobs to the residents of the city. The largest among these is Nidec Motor Corporation and Nordson Corporation. Many other types of businesses are found throughout Elkhart, including several restaurants and banks. In addition, Elkhart contains a few shopping centres.
Elkhart is also home to the National Historic Landmark known as the Studebaker National Museum. This museum has extensive collections of cars from throughout history. Still, it is best known for over 300 classic cars produced by the company once based in the city, Studebaker Corporation.
